Montrose is a 45 acre site established in 1952. It manufactures Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) for further processing at approximately 30 other GSK sites. APIs manufactured at the site include fluticasone and salbutamol for the GSK respiratory product line, abacavir for the treatment of HIV/AIDS, zanamivir for responding to global flu pandemics, lacidipine for the treatment of hypertension, betamethasones for the GSK dermatological product line and dutasteride for prostate treatment within men, amongst others.
The site's determination to compete globally on price is driven by a strong performance management culture and a desire to harness renewable energy technologies.
