Other European Hole in the Wall Camps

France
Other European Hole in the Wall CampsL'Envol in France is also modelled on the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp principles, but provides a more medically-oriented environment for children who are undergoing treatment such as chemotherapy. The camp serves mainly French children, but there is a funding mechanism that enables some southern European children to attend.

GSK in France has adopted L'Envol for its employee volunteering activities.

Hungary
The Bátor Tábor Foundation (meaning “Camp of Courage Foundation”) provides therapeutic recreational programs for children with tumors and other chronic diseases in Hungary.  We support the summer camps which aim to improve children’s self-esteem and confidence. This advances their recovery and helps them to integrate with other children.

This pioneering initiative gives the children a sense of achievement through activities such as rowing, acting and crafts which they would not normally participate in given their illness.

In the past six years nearly a thousand children with chronic diseases have attended the eight-day sessions of Bátor Tábor free-of-charge. There is also a four day family camp for children with chronic diseases under 6 years old and their families.

GSK Hungary has strong ties with Bator Tabor and offers volunteer opportunities, leadership expertise and in kind donations.

UK
GSK supports Over the Wall (UK) and volunteer opportunities in England and Scotland for UK employees of GSK at the three strategically chosen sites: Glenalmond in Scotland, The Pioneer Centre in the Midlands and Bryanston in Dorset.

Other European Hole in the Wall CampsChildren are given the opportunity to meet and overcome new challenges through a fun and structured program of social, creative and physical activities.  Although Over the Wall camps are only one week long, it marks a significant turning point in the children’s lives. They increase their confidence to tackle the challenges they may face from not fitting in at school or to prepare themselves for another session of complex medical treatment.
