Scope – Skills for Life project

A young disabled person with cerebral palsyScope is a leading disability charity, with a vision for a world where disabled people have the same opportunities to fulfil their life ambitions as non-disabled people.  Scope operates a number of services for young disabled people with a range of complex physical and learning needs such as cerebral palsy, physical and sensory disabilities, acquired brain injuries and autism.  The largest of these is Beaumont College, a specialist further education college based in Lancaster.

Scope understands the importance of ensuring young disabled people, especially those individuals with complex support needs, are empowered to develop essential life skills which will help them to live as independently as possible in the future. From the first day the students arrive at Beaumont College, there is shared enthusiasm for unlocking their own potential and in doing so facing a world full of new opportunities.

GSK is supporting the ‘Skills for Life' project which encompasses two excellent programmes of support that help young disabled people gain the dignity and independence that they thought may never be possible. These programmes are devised by professionals at Beaumont College who are going the extra mile to transform the lives of the students and give them the confidence to do things which many of us take for granted.
