WellChild – Children’s nurse project
WellChild is a national charity which has been working for 30 years to help sick children and their families across the UK as they deal with the consequences of serious illness and complex conditions. WellChild focuses on three key areas that affect children’s health – care, support and research. GSK has been supporting the work of WellChild primarily since 2007 when we funded a research programme via our support for Medical Research in the UK. At the heart of WellChild’s work is their team of WellChild Children’s Nurses who provide specialist care and support to enable children with severe long-term illness to leave hospital and be cared for at home.
GSK has recently agreed support for the WellChild Children’s Nurse Project – our funding will support three WellChild Nurses for three years. In addition we are supporting a Medicine’s Information for Parents Project and have supported two of the 2010 WellChild awards.
